The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) have confirmed a joint precision strike on a Hamas command and control center located beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The operation, which took place recently, targeted what Israeli officials described as an underground terrorist infrastructure site.
According to a statement posted on the verified Twitter account of the IDF, the strike was aimed at neutralizing Hamas terrorists operating from the facility. The military emphasized that numerous measures were taken to minimize harm to civilians and surrounding infrastructure. These included the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and corroborating intelligence efforts before and during the operation.
The IDF further accused Hamas of continuing to exploit civilian facilities, particularly hospitals, for militant purposes. “Hamas continues to use hospitals in Gaza for terrorist activity, demonstrating its cynical and brutal use of the civilian population in the hospital and its surroundings,” the IDF stated.
The European Hospital is one of the main medical facilities serving the population in southern Gaza, and its reported use as cover for militant operations has drawn renewed international attention to the humanitarian impact of the conflict.
The IDF reiterated its commitment to protecting Israeli civilians, stating, “The IDF and ISA will continue to operate to remove any threat to the civilians of the State of Israel.
