A senior aide to U.S. President Donald Trump, Riley Moore, has publicly criticized former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso following his comments about alleged Christian killings in Nigeria. Taking to his verified X account on Monday, November 3, 2025, Moore reacted strongly to Kwankwaso’s appeal that the U.S. should assist Nigeria with technological resources instead of threatening military action.
Kwankwaso had earlier advised that Washington’s approach should focus on providing intelligence and high-tech support to Nigerian security agencies. He cautioned that any aggressive foreign interference could worsen Nigeria’s internal tensions and fuel more religious divisions. In his words, “The United States of America should assist the Nigerian authorities with better cutting-edge technology to tackle these problems, rather than posing a threat that could further polarise our country.”
In response, Moore accused the former governor of double standards, pointing out that during his administration in Kano, Kwankwaso implemented Sharia laws that sanctioned the death penalty for blasphemy. Moore questioned Kwankwaso’s moral authority to comment on the issue, writing: “Do you care to comment on your own complicity in the death of Christians? You instituted Sharia law. You signed the law that makes so-called blasphemy punishable by death.”
The exchange has since stirred reactions online, highlighting tensions over religion, governance, and human rights in Nigeria. View, More,
