A video that was posted on the official X account of THE CABLE on Friday, November 7, 2025 has captured the moment the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah was explaining what the law says about defection in Ghana.

According to report, Matthew Kukah was speaking at the 60th birthday anniversary of Nigerian broadcaster and Arise TV presenter, Reuben Abati when he made the comment.

In the post that surfaced online, Kukah stated that in Ghana, whenever a person defects, the law permits the conduct of a new election after 42 days. He said the election will be conducted and the person who defected won’t be eligible to participate.
