A student of the Nigerian Law School, Adamawa campus, David Obiora, has narrated his ordeal after being abducted along the Zaki Biam–Wukari Expressway on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. when armed men intercepted travelers and forced them into the bush.
This statement was contained in a report that was published on Punch Newspapers on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Obiora explained that the abductors were not of Fulani origin, noting that they communicated in Nigerian Pidgin throughout the ordeal.
The kidnappers reportedly identified themselves with names such as Mathew, Felix, and David. Investigations have since revealed that a ransom payment was made into a commercial bank account linked to one of the abductors, identified as Felix.
This financial trail has raised further questions about the networks enabling criminal gangs to operate with relative ease.
Obiora’s account has added a new dimension to the national conversation about insecurity, particularly as many abductions in the region are often attributed to herders or bandit groups of Fulani origin.
Security analysts argue that the incident underscores the increasingly diverse composition of kidnapping syndicates, making profiling more complex and the fight against abductions even more challenging.
Here is what David Obiora said according to Punch Newspapers;
I was listening to their language, and I knew because I’m very sure they were not Fulani. They were even speaking Nigerian Pidgin. Some of them bore the names Mathew, Felix, and David. It was the bank account of the one bearing Felix that was used in receiving the ransom?
