August 25, 2025 – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei intensified his rhetoric against Israel in a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, declaring the “Zionist regime” as the most despised entity globally.
In one post, he stated, “Today, our enemy, the Zionist regime, is the most despised regime in the world.”
In another, he added, “Nations are disgusted by the Zionist regime. They loathe it, and governments condemn it.”
These statements come amid heightened tensions following a brief but intense conflict earlier this year.
The remarks were part of a broader thread where Khamenei urged blocking all support channels to Israel, praising Yemen’s actions as “the right course” and calling for practical measures beyond verbal condemnations.
He highlighted unprecedented crimes by Israeli leaders, including starving children, and noted that even Western governments like France and Britain have issued condemnations, though he dismissed them as insufficient.
This outburst follows the June 2025 Iran-Israel war, a 12-day clash triggered by Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, killing senior commanders like Generals Mohammad Kazemi and Hassan Mohaqeq, and nuclear scientists.
Israel targeted sites to halt Iran’s nuclear program, with U.S. involvement under President Trump, who brokered a ceasefire after Iran retaliated against a U.S. base in Qatar.
Khamenei claimed victory, asserting Iran delivered a “heavy slap” to America and crushed Israel despite the attacks.
The conflict caused significant damage, with IAEA Director Rafael Grossi reporting “enormous” harm to Iran’s centrifuges at Fordow, setting back the program by years.
Khamenei’s posts echo his long-standing anti-Israel stance, rooted in support for Palestinian causes and opposition to U.S. influence. In July, he commemorated Iranian martyrs from the war, praising national resilience.
Analysts see these as efforts to rally domestic support amid economic strains from sanctions and war recovery. Iran partially reopened airspace post-ceasefire, but tensions persist, with Khamenei warning of heavy costs for any aggression.
