Joe Igbokwe, a Lagos-based politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a strongly worded Facebook post after supporters of Nnamdi Kanu attacked him online for criticizing the IPOB leader following his life-imprisonment sentence.
In the post, which has sparked another wave of heated reactions, Igbokwe defended his recent comments on insecurity in the Southeast and condemned what he described as tribal name-calling and emotional blackmail from Kanu’s supporters. He wrote, “For days now I have been hammering on the blood-letting of my Christian brethren in the North, but because I dare take a stand on the happenings in my father’s land you call me an Awusa blood. It is not my fault that your fathers spent the time they were supposed to teach you your roots and identity in multiplying women and did nothing to educate you. It is not my fault that you can’t reason beyond your emotions.”
Igbokwe argued that his critics have refused to engage with the issues he raised and instead resorted to personal insults. He maintained that his call for accountability over violence in the Southeast should not be interpreted as hostility toward his ethnic group, but as a plea for introspection in the aftermath of years of unrest linked to separatist activities.
The APC stalwart, who has long been a polarizing figure in debates surrounding IPOB, accused his detractors of ignoring broader national security concerns while attacking anyone who questions Kanu’s legacy. He insisted that his focus remains on peace, stability, and confronting what he sees as uncomfortable truths within Igbo society. View, More,
