In an interview on Arise TV, Ladan Salihu, a member of the newly formed ADC coalition, dismissed criticism from Dumebi Kachikwu, the party’s former presidential candidate, who had accused the coalition of hijacking the party’s structure.
Salihu, addressing the controversy, said: “He’s just an ADC member who was privileged to become the presidential candidate,” insisting that Kachikwu’s position did not give him the authority to challenge decisions taken by the party’s former national chairman, board of trustees members, and national working committee, who collectively endorsed the coalition move.
According to Salihu, disagreements like Kachikwu’s were expected in any political realignment, but they should not overshadow the coalition’s main objective: building a platform focused on competence, character, and integrity to confront Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, poverty, and misgovernance.
He also stressed that the coalition is not driven by an obsession to remove President Tinubu from power but is instead committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative rooted in reform and genuine leadership. While some critics have described the coalition as a gathering of old political faces, Salihu argued that what matters is their collective commitment to changing the political culture.
As the ADC coalition positions itself ahead of 2027, Salihu urged Nigerians to judge them not by individual personalities but by their capacity to deliver on governance and national renewal.
