A woman who was described as an “interstate child trafficking suspect,” and said to have abducted two children from their school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in Abuja, the command’s PRO, Josephine Adeh, said.

The Police PRO disclosed the development on her X handle on Sunday afternoon, saying the woman, whose name was given as Blessing Okoi, was arrested shortly after arriving in Abuja with the children.

It was gathered that the woman went to the children’s school, lured them with biscuits and took them away from Port Harcourt to Abuja. She even renamed one of the children in order to hand him over to a parent.

In a video posted by the Police PRO, the parents of the children were said to have told the Rivers State Police Command about the disappearance of the children and the police operatives were said to have swung into action and following their intelligence gathering, the tracked the woman to the FCT.

They thereafter informed the FCT Police Command about the abduction who also began investigation and eventually succeeded in arresting the lady while the two children were rescued.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Tunji Disu, who addressed the media on the development, disclosed that it took his operatives two weeks of serious work before they were able to locate the hideout of the woman in Abuja.

She was said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and she is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
