Theophilus Alaye, President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, recently criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over a controversial event in Rivers State. During the event, individuals who claimed to represent the Ijaw nation apologized to Wike on behalf of Governor Sim Fubara.

However, in a live coverage by Channels TV from 4:50, Alaye said no key Ijaw traditional rulers was present at the event. He said the people involved were mainly Wike’s political allies and they don’t represent the entire Ijaw Nation

Alaye said Wike whom he once held in high regard allowed his political associates to make a mockery of him by orchestrating this event. He said that the Ijaw people’s position on Rivers State politics remains unchanged and they will stand firmly behind Governor Sim Fubara throughout his term.

In Alaye’s words: “With what just played out in Rivers, Wike has allowed his political sons and daughters to make mockery of him. The position of Ijaw Nation on Rivers State matter remains the same. We are going to support Governor Sim Fubara till he completes his four-year term”
