Osita Obi, a prominent rights activist from Anambra State, has called for a thorough investigation into alarming reports of kidnapped victims who fail to meet ransom demands having their body parts sold. The disturbing claims have sparked widespread concern, prompting Obi to take action by forwarding a viral voice note from a freed victim to the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam.

In a report by Daily Post, Obi revealed that he had contacted the Commissioner immediately after receiving the voice note, urging that it be translated from Igbo to aid in the investigation. He expressed his expectations that the police would act on the matter, given the gravity of the allegations. However, Obi voiced his disappointment, as he had yet to receive any response from the authorities.

The voice note, which has gone viral, comes from a businessman who was recently freed from captivity. He and a priest, Rev. Fr. Nonso, were abducted in the Urum area of Awka North Local Government. The victim described the horrifying conditions they faced during their time in the kidnappers’ den, and he shared shocking details about the fate of victims who are unable to pay their ransom.

According to the businessman, victims who cannot meet the ransom demands are often kìlled, with their orgàns harvested and sold to rìtualists. He revealed that their bodies are discarded in a pit, and chemicals are poured over them to conceal the smell of decomposition. These disturbing revelations paint a gruesome picture of the activities of the kidnappers.

He further detailed the kidnappers’ operations, which include a well-organized network with cooks who prepare meals for both the captors and their victims. He also described the presence of armed young boys who assist in the kidnappings. According to him, the kidnappers regularly go out to abduct new victims, only to return with more people to hold captive.

“The kidnappers run an operation in the forest, employing cooks to prepare meals for themselves and their victims. There are also young boys among them, all armed with guns. In the evenings, they prepare to go out, and when they return, they always bring back captives,” he said
