An economist and one of the chieftains of the Labour Party, LP, Prof Pat Utomi has stated that when thieves and fraudsters take over power, there will be worse dictatorship.
He made the statement on his official X handle on Sunday.
His statement is coming amid some of the things that have been happening in the country.
In the post that he shared on his page, he said what has been keeping democracy are institutions that are strong but today, Institutions in Nigeria have been weakened.
Pat Utomi said he worked half a century for a better Nigeria but it’s unfortunate that the two quotes that dominated his writing in the dark days of military rule are back in contention.
Pat Utomi said;
“When thieves and fraudsters finally and democratically take authority because criminals and evildoers want power, there will be worse dictatorship. What has kept democracy are strong institutions but they have crippled our institutions”….Vïêw–Môrê
