Former Ambassador to the Netherlands, Ogi Ngofa, recently criticized Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for his role in the political crisis in Rivers State. In a video that was shared by SYMFONI TV from 4.25, Speaking during an interview, Ngofa expressed disappointment with Wike’s approach to politics, particularly his influence over 27 lawmakers from the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected to support him.

According to Ngofa, these lawmakers no longer represent the interests of the people who elected them. He claimed their actions reflect Wike’s personal ambitions rather than the needs of their constituents. “They have lost their office because their decisions no longer align with the people’s wishes,” he said.

Ngofa accused Wike of practicing what he called “political immorality,” saying the FCT Minister tries to control every political party for selfish reasons. He described this as harmful to Nigeria’s democracy. “Wike wants to own everything, but politics should not be about one person controlling everyone,” Ngofa argued.

Using strong words, Ngofa labeled Wike’s political style as “political harlotry,” meaning that Wike seems to be jumping between parties and seeking power wherever he can find it. Ngofa believes this kind of behavior lacks integrity and fails to inspire growth in the country’s democracy.

For Ngofa, there should be clarity and honesty in politics, and politicians should stand for specific ideas and values. Ngofa’s remarks highlight growing concerns about the impact of personal ambition on Nigeria’s political system.
