In a recent interview on Arise Television from 18.50, Lee Maeba, a prominent political figure, shared his concerns about the ongoing tensions in Rivers State between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Maeba accused Wike of using his current position as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to stir unrest in their home state.

Maeba argued that as a minister, Wike should focus on promoting federal government policies and supporting peace in Rivers State, rather than creating conflicts. He emphasized that a minister’s duty includes representing their state positively and ensuring people believe in the federal government.

Maeba recalled Wike’s time as governor, emphasizing how powerful and controlling he was. “We worked with him; we know what he can do,” he said. Maeba explained that No one could challenge him and freely visit Rivers State. But Governor Fubara has chosen to follow the rule of law, avoiding the same confrontational approach

While Praising Governor Fubara for maintaining peace and following the rule of law, despite provocations, he warned that actions like Wike’s could lead to serious consequences for the state, including disruptions in oil production. Reflecting on the past, Maeba recalled how similar tensions in 2006 caused massive explosions on oil pipelines, leading to a sharp drop in production.

He urged people, especially the press, to stop praising actions that could harm the state and instead criticize those responsible for creating unrest. “If Rivers State falls into chaos, it will affect everyone,” Maeba cautioned.
