Tunji Disu, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recently revealed the arrest of a group of “one-chance” robbers in Abuja who had been posing as security officers from the police and Department of State Services (DSS) to deceive and extort residents.

In a live broadcast with Symfoni TV from 13:20, Disu explained that these robbers would detain people, demand money, and even request ransom from their families while falsely claiming to be police or DSS operatives.

Disu stated, “Our officers tracked and apprehended them. To our surprise, they were neither police officers nor DSS agents, yet they were arresting people, demanding money, and even collecting ransoms from families while posing as members of the police or DSS. During interrogation, the suspects admitted to impersonating personnel from various agencies to defraud unsuspecting citizens and revealed they have been operating across different routes within the FCT for the past two years.”
