Retired Major General Ishola Williams has launched a scathing critique of the federal government’s reliance on United States military assistance, labeling recent operations including a purported missile strike in Sokoto as a “joke” and a failure of domestic intelligence.
Speaking from 0:39 on Channels Television, the former military chief expressed deep frustration with the lack of transparency surrounding international intervention in Nigeria’s internal security struggle.
The General’s comments were triggered by reports of U.S. Tomahawk missiles being deployed to Sokoto on December 25 to assist in the fight against insurgents.
According to Gen. Williams, the operation resulted in collateral damage rather than the intended tactical success.
“You know, one get tired of talking about political military issues in Nigeria because the me was a joke. United States came all the way 8,000 miles away. They kept a boat in Ghana and started firing missiles at Nigeria.”
He further alleged that the missiles missed their marks, impacting civilian areas instead of neutralizing high-value targets.
“The Missile was supposed to be in Sokoto. It fell in questing some people’s houses. Till today, nobody has shown the picture of any of the so-called bandits and criminals that were killed. Nobody till today. And nobody has even confirmed it too.” Read_More…
