Nyesom Wike, who served as the governor of Rivers State and is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has disclosed the reasons for his decision to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the most recent presidential election, as well as the cautions that he got.

Wike criticised his detractors and reaffirmed his unshakeable choices made before the election in a video that was distributed by SYMFONI TV from 17.37. The video was taken during the end-of-year thanksgiving ceremony held by the PDP in Rivers State, which was held at the Ahoada East and West PDP.

According to Wike, a great number of individuals cautioned him against supporting Tinubu, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was running at the time. It was communicated to him that in the event that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious, he would be subject to serious repercussions, such as being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and maybe given a prison sentence. On the other hand, Wike said that he did not waver in his stance because he was a solid believer in doing what was right for his people.

Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu has my full and unwavering support, regardless of the repercussions. This is how you can identify guys who have character.

In his statement, he made it quite apparent that the goal of his decision was to guarantee that his people would not be considered as citizens of a lower class. It was emphasised by Wike that he did not have any regrets or apologies for his choices, and that he would choose the same option once again if the chance presented itself.
