Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar recently addressed the security situation in Nigeria regarding the terror group Lakurawa, responsible for violent attacks in Sokoto and Kebbi states, as reported by Daily Trust.
The government is implementing measures to eliminate this group, focusing on deploying additional military resources, including more equipment and personnel, to the affected regions. This move aims to contain the violence and prevent its spread to other states.
The acting Chief of Army Staff has visited the troubled areas and engaged with local military leaders to develop effective strategies against the insurgents. These discussions have led to tactical plans designed to confront Lakurawa and establish long-term security.
He said, “The (acting) Chief of Army Staff has visited the areas and he has discussed with other service chiefs on how to crush these people. They have rolled out strategies on how to end the new terror group, God willing, including provision of additional equipment and troops that will be deployed to the affected areas in order to bring an end to it.”
