The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly has raised alarm over alleged orchestrated campaigns of misinformation and violence targeting political figures in the state.
Speaking on broadcast with Symfoni TV from 14:48, Martin Amaewhule accused opposition groups of weaponizing media outlets for propaganda purposes. “The only instrument they have now is to pay the media to misinform River people and misinform Nigerians. That’s what they are doing. When you do a different thing, they use the media and tell a different story,” he stated.
The Speaker further alleged that these groups are actively organizing youth for violent activities. “The other instrument they use is to mobilize youth, to gather them and go and attack the speaker. You are aware they came to attack my residence. We are hearing that they are planning another one to attack us again,” Amaewhule revealed.
His claims include a previous attack on his residence and warnings of potential future assaults. The Speaker’s allegations highlight growing concerns about the use of media manipulation and orchestrated violence as political tools in Rivers State.
