In a hard-hitting address broadcast on Voice TV from 4:15, Senator Adams Oshiomole has confronted the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, with serious concerns about foreign nationals’ involvement in illegal activities and questionable immigration practices in Nigeria.

The Senator drew attention to the concentration of foreign nationals in specific urban areas, stating, “By the time you go to Lagos and go to China town, the picture might even be much more confounding.” This observation served as a prelude to more serious allegations about criminal activities.

In a particularly pointed reference to recent criminal investigations, Oshiomole highlighted a disturbing trend: “And recently, I am sure distinguished Senators, Members, you will have read in the newspapers about Chinese people being arrested by EFCC for Yahoo activities.” His subsequent comment carried a sharp critique of immigration oversight: “They came here with your permit. You have a quota for Yahoo players.”

The Senator then called for more rigorous immigration enforcement: “So, I think these are issues we must take much more seriously. We must not allow one expat that has no business here to be here.” He drew a clear distinction between legitimate tourism and potentially problematic long-term stays, emphasizing, “He can visit as a tourist. But like every tourist, you go back at the expiration of your tourism.”

These revelations have sparked serious discussions about Nigeria’s immigration policies and the monitoring of foreign nationals’ activities within the country. The Senator’s comments suggest a need for more stringent vetting processes and better enforcement of immigration regulations.
