A Senator Representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has alleged that he built the Edo Central hospital in memory of his late wife, who died of breast cancer with the intention of providing early detection and treatment for Edo people.

He expresses disappointment that the hospital is now only accessible to those who can afford it, with high charges for treatment. He argued that it was never his intention for the hospital to be reserved for the rich. He lamented that instead of allowing Edo people to benefit from the hospital, the current governor, Obaseki, brought in consultants who are not hospital facility managers to run the hospital.

He said in a live coverage by TVC From Minute 6:08, ”You know when I was building that central hospital and you see how beautiful it is. I was building a five star hospital for Edo people. We built It and we bought equipment inside it, President Buhari came to commission it about a week before the end of my tenure. Instead of Obaseki to open the door of that hospital for Edo people to benefit from it, he brought in Consultants and these are consultants are not Hospital facility manager, they are just general consultants.

He did a deal with them and he allowed them to run that hospital, these people are not even from Edo State. If you have money you go there and they charge you heavily. If you don’t have money, you will go either a private hospital or Stella Obasanjo hospital. The Central Hospital was built by me after I lost my late wife to breast cancer. And I said the best tribute I can give to her memory is that no woman should die of breaths cancer because it can be detected earlier and treated. It was never in my contemplation that it would be reserved for the rich.”….VïêwMôrê
