In a video shared by Arise News from 3:03, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has alleged a sinister plot to frame its spokesperson and House of Representatives member, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, on charges of bribing judges.

The CUPP spokesperson, Mark Adebayo, revealed this during a press conference, accusing certain security agencies and a faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory of orchestrating the plan. According to the CUPP, these allegations are fabricated and aim to discredit Hon. Ugochinyere, who has been critical of the minister’s influence in Rivers State politics.

The accusations stem from Ugochinyere’s outspoken stance on the appeal against the seizure of the Rivers State Treasury, a case that was decided in favor of the state. The CUPP argues that the claims of judicial bribery are part of a larger agenda to silence the lawmaker, who has been a vocal critic of political overreach. They view the charges as not only a direct attack on Ugochinyere but also an attempt to undermine the judiciary’s integrity by suggesting its susceptibility to corruption.

In his words;

Mark Adebayo stated during the press conference, “They’re trying to frame him on trump up charges of bribing of Judges (you know they lost on the appeal against seizing the Rivers State Treasury) they’re now speculating that he bribed judges for Rivers State to win that case. Ikenga is not from Rivers State as we all know; he’s from Imo State. Why will he go out of his way to bribe the judiciary? In fact, it’s blackmail for anyone to even try to frame him on such charges.” He further remarked, “If bribery is their practice, it’s not the practice of a person of integrity like Ikenga Ugochinyere.
