Presidential Aide and Spokesman to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration, Bayo Onanuga recently took time to send a message across to the presidential aspirant of People’s Democratic Party and former vice president of the Federation, Atiku Abubakar. This came in the aftermath of Atiku Abubakar’s criticism of the current administration’s directives regarding the age at which students should be admitted into higher institutions.

As the federal government made public it’s policy on the age at which students should be allowed into higher institutions, a lot of eyebrows were raised amongst the populace. In light of this, former vice president and Presidential aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar criticized the government’s directive, liking it to a lost Sailor on the high sea.

It can be recalled that in a recent social media post which has garnered widespread attention from the general public, the presidential spokesperson to the Tinubu led administration, Bayo Onanuga took time to send a message across to the presidential aspirant. In his statements, he pointed out that as a Statesman, some utterances were not expected of him, that Statemen are measured in words and deeds, a characteristic which he (Atiku Abubakar) has not demonstrated since he lost the last presidential election.

Taking to his social media handle, X he shared the message viz, “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria, is qualified to be an Elderstateman due to his advanced age and eminent status….But sometimes Atiku behaves like he should be removed from that exclusive club.”

The statements from the mouthpiece of the president has however generated a lot of mixed reactions from the general public. While many agreed with him, others believe his open criticism of the former vice president is unnecessary.
