Lawyer and human rights activist, Prof Chidi Anselm Odinkalu has reacted after lawyer, Dele Farotimi was granted bail by a court in Ekiti state.
According to CHANNELS TV, a magistrate court in Ekiti state has granted N30 million bail to Dele Farotimi. This is coming after the court remanded the human rights activist in a correctional centre in Ado Ekiti over the allegation of defaming Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola.
However, Chidi Odinkalu has now reacted to the report. In a post that he shared on his official X handle on Friday, he said the court granted N30 million bail to Dele Farotimi for a misdemeanor. He said the court also told him not to grant any media interview.
Here is what he wrote on his page;
“For a misdemeanor, a Magistrate Court grants bail to Dele Farotimi on the following terms:
“N30 million bond. 2 sureties; one shall be a house owner. The defendant shall submit his passport. He shall not grant any media interview. This is supposedly law too”.
