Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has weighed in on the role of the President in shaping national expectations. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Osifo explained the dual responsibility of the president to inspire hope while maintaining a realistic outlook on the nation’s challenges.

The exact words of Osifo read, “the President of a country is the chief salesman of a country. It is his function to give us hope, and it is his own primary responsibility to lay out the message that he has laid out, which is to paint the picture of a lot of goodies that will come in 2025.

He further added that, “He (President Tinubu) has done what any president in the world would do, so it is normal for him to paint that picture. In also painting that kind of picture, we have to also be realistic. Generally, from listening to the president and reading his statements over and over again, we could see that a lot of things were painted with optimism, and that is what the president should put out there”.
