According to Daily Post, a notorious bandit kingpin in Zamfara State, Kachalla Dan Lukuti, is dead. Feared for his ruthless attacks and bloodshed, the infamous bandit leader ruled from the shadows.

He reportedly met a bizarre and terrifying end—barking like a rabid dog before succumbing to a mysterious illness.

According to reports, Lukuti’s ordeal began about a week before his death. Witnesses say he suddenly fell ill, displaying disturbing symptoms—violent aggression, uncontrollable convulsions, and, most eerily, continuous barking sounds like those of a rabid dog.

His once-loyal gang members, hardened criminals themselves, were so unnerved by his strange behavior that they kept their distance, unable or unwilling to help their suffering leader.

Lukuti’s stronghold was the dreaded Kokonba forest in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara, where he commanded a ruthless gang of over 50 heavily armed men.

His name was synonymous with terror across Dan Jiloga, Rijiya, Zonai, Magami, and the Gusau-Magami highway, extending his criminal reach deep into Katsina’s Faskari Local Government Area. But despite his iron grip on these regions, nothing could save him from the horrifying fate that awaited him.

Witnesses say his final days were filled with agonizing howls, his voice eerily resembling that of a distressed animal. His death left his gang in utter fear, gripped by superstitions that it was not mere sickness but divine retribution for his years of terror. So afraid were his men that they refused to bury him, instead forcing villagers in Kizara to lay him to rest in a primary school graveyard.

Speculation swirls around his mysterious demise. Some believe he was struck by rabies, a cruel twist of fate for a man who thrived on violence. Others whisper of supernatural justice—a fitting punishment for a life steeped in bloodshed.

Lukuti’s death comes amid intensified military operations targeting bandit strongholds across the Northwest.
