A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, has reacted to the allocation of ₦146 billion to fund the Lagos Green Line Metro Rail Phase 1 in the 2025 national budget.

In a post on his social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter, the ex-governor argued that the allocated amount was too much for just one project, pointing out that the amount sums to 57 percent of the entire budget of the Ministry of Transportation.

He tweeted, “There are other curious items I have seen in the proposed (2025) budget. One glaring example is the plan to transfer N146.14 billion to MOFI as counterpart funding for the Lagos Green Line Metro Rail Phase 1. This raises many questions. The proposed allocation for the metro-line within a state is 65% of the capital budget and 57% of the entire budget of the Ministry of Transport.”
