In a video posted on Symfoni TV from 5:20, the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara announced the launch of the emblem appeal fund in preparation for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in January. The fund aims to provide support for fallen heroes, their widows, and their families.
Fubara shared his personal connection to the cause, as his late father was a military officer.
He highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing the importance of generous donations and collective support to ensure that the families of fallen heroes, like his mother, can continue to benefit from the initiative and experience joy during the remembrance day.
According to Siminalayi Fubara, “On behalf of the government of River State, I join the good people of River State to start the preparation for the January event of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day. Today’s event is the emblem appeal fund launching to support our fallen heroes, their widows, and also those they’ve left behind.
This event means so much to me because I fall in the category of the dependents of the fallen heroes. Maybe you don’t understand, my late father was a military officer. So I’m also one of them that are dependent. This donation today, since we have people like Dumor here, the money must be high. It’s important because every January, when my mother goes for that event, she comes back smiling. I know that. So we have to join hands together to make this one very special.”
