Lauretta Onochie, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted after Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, claimed Nigeria Police took her brother’s shoes and watch.

In a report by Punch, Kemi Badenoch described her encounters with Nigerian police, claiming they stole her brother’s shoes and watch. She also referred to Nigeria as a poor country, attributing such behavior to the economic conditions.

Badenoch stated:

“My experience with the police in Nigeria was very negative, and coming to the UK, my first experience with the police was very positive. The police in Nigeria would ròb us. I remember the polìce stealing my brother’s shoes and his watch. It’s a very poor country, so people do all sorts of things.”

In response, Lauretta Onochie shared an image of Kemi Badenoch at the Lagos Polo Club, highlighting the dual benefits of holding citizenship in two nations.

Onochie criticized Badenoch’s comments, emphasizing the need for respect toward Nigeria.

She wrote:

“Here is Kemi Badenoch, the temporary leader of our Conservative Party, enjoying herself at the Lagos Polo Club in Nigeria. Having the passports of two nations is a blessing, allowing us to love and support both. Constantly tarnishing Nigeria’s image is unacceptable. She will reap the fruit.”
