Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, Nigeria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted that Kamala Harris has been unable to reach Donald Trump for a routine post-election courtesy call. Akinyemi noted that, traditionally, the losing candidate congratulates the winner, extending a gesture of cooperation, yet Trump has reportedly refused to answer her calls.

He questioned Trump’s commitment to uniting the country, pointing out that his refusal to engage with Harris raises doubts about his willingness to bridge divides with the millions who supported her. This behavior, according to Akinyemi, does not align with the approach expected from someone dedicated to national unity.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 11:03, “Do you know that Kamala Harris has been trying to get in touch with him to congratulate him, and she hasn’t succeeded in getting through to him? He hasn’t picked her calls. Now, this is routine—this is routine procedure that the loser in a presidential race will call the winner to congratulate him and offer the hand of friendship and cooperation, and Trump has refused to pick that up. She still has not been able to reach him. Does that sound like somebody who intends to unite America? Does that sound like somebody who is prepared to offer hands of friendship across to the 67 million or so Americans who voted for Kamala Harris?”
