Former Governor and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has told members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) that if they truly want Biafra, they must first drop their arms. Kalu emphasized that no meaningful conversation, dialogue, or negotiation can happen when people are still carrying weapons or encouraging violence.
In a video interview from 10:37 posted by Arise TV, Kalu stated clearly that the IPOB agitators need to adopt a peaceful approach by carrying only their flags and coming forward to demand what they really want. According to him, this is the only way meaningful dialogue can take place between them and the Federal Government.
Kalu explained that peaceful agitation remains the most effective and acceptable method for pursuing any political or social cause, especially one that involves issues as sensitive as self-determination. He stressed that violence only creates fear, confusion, and division, and cannot lead to the lasting solutions the people desire.
However, Kalu made it known that, personally, he wants to remain a Nigerian. He said he desires a country where justice, equity, goodness, and love prevail. He added that Nigeria can work if everyone commits to peace, fairness, and unity.
In his words:
“Even if they want Biafra, they should drop their arms and go with their flags and demand for what they want and negotiate for it. Talk for a referendum and all the rest of it, if that is really what they want. Me, I want to be a Nigerian where justice and equity prevails. I want to see a Nigeria where goodness and love prevails. This is what I would like to see.” View, More,
