The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has declared that he has never participated in any actions that would lead to shame, disgrace, or destruction to Rivers state. He emphasized the importance of unity, stating that the prosperity of the state directly impacts the welfare of all its citizens.
He posited a strong stance against violence and destruction, questioning the rationale behind such actions when they ultimately require resources to rebuild what has been damaged. As an accountant by profession, he underscored his understanding of financial management and the importance of using funds wisely for development rather than engaging in destructive behaviors. He highlighted that investing in constructive initiatives is far more beneficial than the cycle of destruction and rebuilding, which can drain resources and hinder progress.
He said in a media coverage by Symfoni from 4:03, ”I would like everyone to hear me when I say this, and I make bold to say it, that I’ve never been a party to anything that will bring shame, disgrace, and destruction to our dear state. It is our state, and if it’s well with us, it is well with everybody.
As a matter of fact, why should I encourage destruction when I know that when you finish spoiling, you still need money to rebuild? I’m an accountant, and so I know the importance of how you can manage money. Rather than destroy things, you will use that money to do a new thing for the state. So, I’m going to ensure that we put a stop to that level of unreasonable violence.”
