The former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party, LP candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi has spoken about the arrest of the former wife of the Ooni Of Ife, Queen Silekunola Naomi.
His reaction was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Sunday.
According to VANGUARD, Queen Naomi was arrested in connection with the stampede that led to the death of many people in Oyo state.
In the post that Peter Obi shared on his page, he said the government should reconsider the decision to arrest her. Peter Obi said the initiative was carried out to alleviate the suffering of the people and bring relief to them.
Here is what Peter Obi wrote on his official X handle;
“The recent arrest of the organizers of a palliative distribution program in Oyo state, spearheaded by the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, has come to my attention.
“I want to make a heartfelt appeal to the government to reconsider this action. Acts of goodwill, even when they unintentionally result in unfortunate outcomes, should not be criminalized”.
