In a candid interview with ESET TV from 02:48, Renowned activist and advocate Annkio Briggs has come to the defense of former Rivers State governor Dr. Peter Odili while sharply criticizing Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. In a recent statement, Briggs accused Wike of making unfounded claims and failing to think through his assertions before speaking.

Briggs’ remarks stemmed from Wike’s controversial claim that he sold his property to fund the legal battle of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who later succeeded Odili as governor of Rivers State. During a public appearance, Wike alleged, “I sold my property to finance Amaechi’s legal struggle.”

However, Briggs dismissed this assertion as baseless, questioning the financial feasibility of Wike’s claim. “I laughed when he was saying that he sold his property to finance Amaechi’s legal struggle. Where did he have that money?” he queried, casting doubt on the credibility of his statement.

Briggs went further to highlight the financial implausibility of Wike’s claim, noting the significant value of the alleged funds. “100 million naira of 2007 is over 500 million naira today, or even up to a billion naira,” she emphasized.

The activist concluded his remarks with an air of disbelief, criticizing Wike’s pattern of making exaggerated claims. “It is not just about talking; it is about the truth and evidence,” he remarked, urging public figures to be more accountable in their statements.

Briggs’ comments add to the ongoing debate over Wike’s tenure as Rivers State governor and his role in national politics. For now, the controversy underscores the importance of transparency and credibility in public discourse.
