In a forthright interview with Arise TV From 9:33, Olusola Ebiseni, Secretary General of the Afenifere socio-political group, raised critical concerns about the legal profession’s conduct surrounding the Dele Farotimi case, highlighting potential breaches of professional ethics and due process.

Ebiseni offered a nuanced perspective on the potential trajectory of the case, particularly regarding Chief Afe Babalola’s potential approach. “Chief Afe Babalola, on his own, without the intervention of some of our colleagues in the legal profession, may have had a different approach, a different thinking,” he stated.

The legal expert strongly criticized fellow senior legal practitioners for what he perceived as inappropriate public commentary. “Here on your channels and different channels, you have seen lawyers, respected senior legal practitioners, come and do exactly what the court should do. They have found Dele Farotimi guilty and are calling him all sorts of names on television,” Ebiseni asserted.

He emphasized the impropriety of conducting legal proceedings in the media, arguing that “They went into legal submissions which ought to be made in court after his release. I think that is—that’s not acceptable.”

Ebiseni passionately advocated for fundamental legal principles, urging, “When we were with Baba (Afe Babalola), some of our colleagues stood there. They were up in arms, you know, saying he has defamed Baba, whatever it is, let him (Farotimi) have his days in court.”
