In a recent statement via his official X account, Kalu Aja, a renowned financial analyst and educator, has responded to the Presidency’s claim that former President Olusegun Obasanjo spent $16 billion on electricity projects but failed to provide power for Nigerians.

The Presidency’s statements came after Obasanjo criticized the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The comment accused Obasanjo of wasteful spending during his tenure, which it described as resulting in “darkness” despite the massive funds allocated to the power sector.

Kalu Aja, in his reaction, expressed disappointment with the accuracy of the statement coming from the Presidency.

“This is false. I expect this from random handles but not the Presidency,” Aja wrote.

Aja’s response highlights his concern about the spread of misinformation from official channels, by calling the claim “false,” he seems to suggest that the Presidency’s statement does not reflect the full facts regarding the Obasanjo administration’s power sector investments.
