In a recent interview with TVC News from 00:25, legal expert and political analyst Bwala Daniel weighed in on former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai’s decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC), questioning the true motivations behind his exit.
Daniel argued that while El-Rufai has the constitutional right to leave any political party, his stated reasons for leaving APC should be thoroughly examined. According to Daniel, El-Rufai claims that the party is drifting away from its core ideologies, but he has not explicitly outlined what these ideological shifts entail.
The words of Bwala in the interview read, “again, I will argue that they’re two things. El-Rufai said he is leaving; that is why I say the exercise of his constitutional rights is one, but his motive we will interrogate. You’re leaving the party on the basis that the party is drifting away from his ideologies, and then you ask him what those ideologies are that the party is drifting towards. I expect the media to ask him.
He further added that, “you know when somebody is saying this is the reason I am doing what I am doing, you have to fact-check him. He has not provided a single ideological problem that he felt the party is drifting away from, except if what it meant is that ideologies mean him being a minister in government. That is what we know as an event that has occurred for which he is not comfortable, and he is leaving.
