The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has once again made headlines after criticizing former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In a post shared on X by Olayinka, speaking during the commissioning of a new road project in Abuja, Wike said the project came to their attention because of a “responsible citizen” who reported it. He then used the occasion to address Obi’s recent comments about the FCT Administration.

Wike accused Peter Obi of always playing politics with every issue. He said Obi had gone to a school in Abuja and claimed that the FCT government did not provide toilets for the students. Wike described this as unnecessary criticism, saying Obi should focus on his record as a former governor.

According to Wike, Peter Obi failed to develop the entire Anambra State during his eight years as governor. Instead, he claimed, Obi saved the state’s funds in banks rather than using them for development projects. “Did he develop the entire Anambra? Instead, he carried the state’s money and put it in his bank,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister went further to challenge Obi to compare his eight years in Anambra with what has been achieved in the FCT within just two years. Wike also mocked Obi’s political influence, saying, “Someone who cannot manage a political party is talking about managing a complex country like Nigeria. He will remain a social media president.”
