Samuel Nwanosike, the former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State, has spoken about the political crisis in the state between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly

During an interview with TVC from 14:16, Nwanosike recounted that during a peace meeting he attended with President Bola Tinubu, the president urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to work with the full Rivers State House of Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule.

According to Nwanosike, Tinubu made it clear that it was inappropriate for Fubara to present Rivers State budget before a faction of Rivers House of Assembly made up of only four lawmakers. He added that Fubara had the opportunity to resolve the issue but instead took steps that only worsened the situation.

In Nwanosike’s words: “Don’t forget, even when we went to the peace meeting with President Tinubu as our father he advised Fubara, saying: ‘Mr Governor go and play politics in the House of Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule and it is an embarrassment for you to present a budget before 4 persons’. Fubara took the advice, went behind and sent people to go to court to create all these confusions”
