The founder of Anap foundation and Anap jet, Atedo Peterside has taken to his official X account on Thursday to react after it was reported that the National Assembly is planning to use voice vote on the issue of two-thirds majority.
According to The Cable, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule in Rivers state will need the approval of a two-thirds majority of the members of the National Assembly.
Reacting, Atedo Peterside said voice vote should not be applied in determining those who are in support of the emergency rule and those who are against. He said everyone must identify themselves and cast their votes.
According to Atedo Peterside;
“On the Rivers State Crisis, all eyes are on the National Assembly. A two-thirds majority cannot be achieved via a voice vote. Members voting for or against the Resolution to ratify the President’s Emergency actions must identify themselves and cast their votes individually”.
