The Edo PDP Governorship Candidate, Asue Ighodalo has revealed why Nyesom Wike Refused to support him for the Edo governorship election. He stated how Wike said he will focus on his own business as minister and not interfere in the Edo Governorship election.

He clarified that the FCT Minister never stated that he wouldn’t support them when they met and that if he had changed his mind, that’s his choice. However, he emphasized that the decision of who governs Edo state is not in the hands of anyone else, regardless of their past political positions.

He said in an interview with Channels TV from 12:52, ”You know sometimes when gentlemen talk in some kind of privacy in nature arrangement, we don’t voice out what has been said. It is not correct that Governor Wike said he wasn’t going to support us. But events may have overtaken his decision at that point and he’s free change to mind. But I believe as a gentleman that he would have adhere to the word he gave me.

But if he has changed his mind, so be it. When he and I spoke, we spoke on issues around governance around Nigeria. and issues around how we can create a better country. And we spoke about Edo state and at the end of the day, we ended the conversations at a point where he said he will mind his business and Edo state is not part of his business. But again if he decided to change his mind that he is free but the decision as to who become the most governor of Edo state is the decision of the Edo people. It is not the decision of anybody else whether you have been governor or you are a minister.”
