Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in an interview from 11:18 has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies, arguing that they are worsening the state of the nation.

Speaking on the need to address fundamental issues rather than superficial ones, George said, “By my background, yes, you must respect the military. You must respect not only the military, you must respect all the other sectors of the land. We are not in war for now. I am not against giving the military whatever they require.”

Highlighting the challenges faced by retired military officers, George shared his personal experience: “Take, for example, I retired as a General. Alright? As a Brigadier General. Do you know what my retirement pay is? ₦225,000 naira a month. That’s all I have. If I go to Abuja with any flight, I can’t fly back home. What is encouraging?”

He urged young officers and Nigerians at large to focus on values such as character, loyalty, and commitment to the system, rather than being swayed by monetary considerations. “Let these boys not be taken away with that and think, ‘Oh, they give us this money.’ It’s not money; it is character, development, commitment, loyalty to the system,” he added.
