Former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has dedicated an award to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, praising Wike for completing the College of Medical Sciences at Rivers State University (RSU), as reported by LEADERSHIP.

Amaechi started the project when he was governor of Rivers State.

However, he could not finish it before leaving office in 2015.

Wike, who succeeded him as governor, continued the project, the college admitted its first set of medical students in 2018.

On Thursday, Amaechi received the award in Port Harcourt.

The management of the college gave him the award during the induction of the first set of medical graduates into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

The award recognized Amaechi’s role in developing the university and establishing the medical college, he commended Wike for not abandoning the project.

Dr. Fatima Kyari, the acting Registrar of MDCN, also praised Amaechi.

She said the college was an important step in strengthening the health sector.

She encouraged the new doctors to see the induction as the beginning of their medical careers.
