In a series of bandit attacks in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, at least three individuals have been killed, and 24 others have been taken hostage. The incidents affected Shinkafi town and nearby villages, including Jangeru, Shanawa, and Birnin Yero.
In Jangeru, a woman who was abducted was later left in the bush several kilometers from her community.
The assailants, believed to be affiliated with the notorious bandit leader Bello Truji, conducted these attacks on Thursday.
According to a resident report, the bandits struck the woman on the head when they found her unable to walk to their hideout, causing her to lose consciousness. They ultimately abandoned her in the wilderness, and she regained consciousness around 3 AM and managed to return to her village by morning.
According to DAILY TRUST, The resident said, “After abducting the woman, the bandits realized she could not endure trekking to their destination, hence they hit her head with a stick and she fainted. They abandoned her in the bush. The woman recovered around 3am and returned to the village in the morning. We were terrified by the attack because the terrorists came with guns and fired several shots indiscriminately.”
