In a recent statement via his official X account, Chidi Odinkalu, a law professor and former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, has reacted to the assassination of the son of retired Supreme Court Justice Mohammed Musa Dattijo.
This comes after Justice Mohammed Musa Dattijo urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the incident.
“Two months after retiring from Supreme Court, unknown persons burgled and emptied Justice Muhammad Dattijo’s official quarters before vanishing into thin air. Last month, they assassinated his son,” Odinkalu wrote.
Justice Dattijo’s quarters were reportedly broken into shortly after his retirement.
The property was emptied, and the culprits remain unidentified.
The son of Justice Dattijo was killed a month later.
Odinkalu’s statements highlighted the increasing threats to judges and their families.
Many Nigerians are now concerned about the safety of retired officials and their families.
Odinkalu’s statement has raised alarms about the need for enhanced protection for these individuals.
