‎According to a report by Leadership on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, political leaders from the Arogbo Ijaw Kingdom have advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to be careful of politicians who might try to use him to divide the South before the 2027 general election.

‎In a statement issued after a meeting in Arogbo Town, the leaders representing both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) voiced concern over political activities that could threaten southern unity.

‎They explained that some politicians from the Niger Delta and other parts of the country were being influenced to create division among southern voters.

‎According to them, this plot was aimed at weakening support for President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential race.

‎The leaders warned that a few individuals were pretending to back a southern candidate for 2027, but their real motive was to disrupt unity within the region.

‎They said such schemes were designed to scatter southern votes and reduce the region’s political strength.

‎They appealed to Jonathan not to be deceived by politicians whose actions could undermine the South’s collective interest.

‎The communique further alleged that some northern politicians were using the Niger Delta as a political tool to pursue their own goals.

‎“Against this backdrop, we urge our former President Goodluck Ebelo Jonathan, GCFR to be on alert and not to be used to achieve any goal aimed at undermining the south’s electoral unity come 2027. Atiku, Others Want To Use Him To Divide South,” it said. See, More, Here>>>
