The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, has reacted strongly to a recent court ruling that stopped the party from holding its planned national convention in Oyo State this November.
The court said the PDP did not fully follow some electoral laws while preparing for the event. In a video shared by SYMFONI TV from 3:52, Damagum described the judgment as disappointing and unfair, saying that although the party respects the law, it does not agree with the decision and will appeal it.
He expressed concern that a few individuals were using the courts to weaken the PDP and disrupt the country’s democracy. According to him, it is wrong for a small group of people to stop an entire political party from carrying out its lawful activities.
Damagum warned that such actions could damage democratic principles in Nigeria if allowed to continue. He emphasized that party matters, such as conventions, should remain internal affairs and not be influenced by outsiders with selfish motives.
He also accused some people of trying to destroy the PDP from within, calling them saboteurs who do not wish the party well. Despite this, he expressed strong faith that their efforts would not succeed.
In his words, “Just because, one or two saboteurs are out to destroy this party, God will not let them be.” View, More,
