Jumoke Ogunkeyede, an APC leader and former U.S.-based NADECO activist, has spoken about President Bola Tinubu’s role during the June 12 struggle for democracy in Nigeria.

In an interview with Channels TV, Ogunkeyede said Tinubu played a key part in uniting NADECO activists who were in conflict with each other during their time in New York. He said Tinubu brought everyone of them together in a meeting and urged them to stop fighting among themselves. He said Tinubu begged them to focus on the bigger goal of restoring democracy to Nigeria.

Ogunkeyede said Tinubu wore a light-brown suit that day and even began to cry while he was speaking to the activists during the meeting. He said Tinubu told the NADECO activists that their struggle was for the good of the nation, and he begged them to let go of their differences and work as one team.

In Ogunkeyede’s words: “Well I hope President Tinubu will forgive me. I saw him, he started to cry, he was wearing a light-brown suit. He was crying that ‘We are doing all of these for a nation and you guys are still quarreling amongst yourselves. Why don’t we forget our disagreements and unify to make sure that we have a Nigerian of our dream'”.
