One of the victims of the deadly attack in Agwan Rukuba, located in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which reportedly claimed 28 lives, including that of a pregnant woman, said she initially believed the attackers were officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to Leadership, the resident, Ngo Esther Audu, who lost her 32-year-old son, Sunday Audu, explained that her son had been sleeping in his room before he later woke up and went out to buy pain relief medication.
The 72-year-old mother said, “I told him to wait till the following day, but he said no and left; unfortunately, he did not come back home again.
“I later slept, thinking that he had returned. In the morning, I was told that Sunday didn’t come back home he previous night.”
She said that she had gone out in search of her son, initially believing that he might have spent the night at one of his friends’ houses.
However, she explained that upon arriving at the junction, some Agwan Rukuba youths approached her and told her to return home, adding that Sunday was in Jankwano. She noted that at that moment, she began to suspect that something was wrong and feared that her son might no longer be alive.
She further disclosed that Sunday had lost his father at a young age and appealed to the state government to provide adequate protection for vulnerable residents in the state. Read_More…
