The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Shehu Gabam, has said that former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai poses a significant political threat to certain individuals.
Speaking during an interview with TVC News from 3:52, Shehu Gabam stated that the recent controversies surrounding El-Rufai indicate that he is a threat to some people.
El-Rufai, alongside Hamza Al-Mustapha and Segun Showunmi, an ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, recently held a meeting with the SDP leadership. This gathering has fueled speculation about a potential alliance aimed at challenging the ruling party in the 2027 elections.
Shehu Gabam noted that if the ruling party knew that El-Rufai was very important, they should have utilized his skills and abilities to strengthen the system.
He said instead of doing that, they have created gaps, which Gabam clarified were not the making of the SDP or himself, as they were not aligned with the APC or El-Rufai at the time.
He said, “It’s very clear to me now, with what is happening, that Nasir El-Rufai is a threat to certain people. I’ve never thought he is as strong as this. It’s evidently very clear. He is a threat to a lot of who and who. The way they magnified very casual issues, it shows that he is a big threat.
“And if he is a big threat, and if he is this important, I thought they would have utilized his potentials, his skills, his abilities to strengthen the system than to create gaps. Now they are worried about the gap they’ve created. We did not create that gap. SDP wasn’t part of that, I wasn’t with APC with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.”
