According to a report by Channels TV from 1:35 , on Sunday November 30, 2025, The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has delivered a scathing critique of Nigeria’s political leadership, accusing them of prioritizing self-serving politics over the nation’s severe security crisis.
The cleric’s comments follow the recent redesignation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) by the United States and the subsequent hearing on Nigerian insecurity held by the US Congress.
Pastor Bakare expressed profound disappointment that it took international pressure to galvanize Nigerian leaders into action, labeling it a national disgrace.
“It is a stain on the Nigerian government that it took the threat of external intervention to rouse leaders to their responsibilities,” he asserted.
He specifically criticized the Nigerian National Assembly, arguing that its members have failed their constituents by not addressing the crisis with the urgency demonstrated by foreign lawmakers.
“It’s a shame on our National Assembly** that it took the United States Congress, not the representatives elected by Nigerians to convene a hearing on the lived experiences of citizens suffering under insecurity.”
The cleric contrasted the American legislative focus on the suffering of Nigerians with the perceived preoccupation of Nigerian politicians with the 2027 general elections, painting a picture of a detached and self-interested ruling class.
